“Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than hanging on.” – Eckhart Tolle
The above quote, is my personal view on letting go too. Letting go means to stop holding on to something, whether be it a person, emotion, a physical attachment to your childhood teddy bear which is now ragged, a feeling, or a grudge.
I think we hold on to things, because of the fear of losing something of value to us, friendships, relationships, or even a materialistic thing. We are afraid of the future version of ourselves that we will become if we let go, we think, how will I function if this happens, how will I survive. But in reality, letting go of the weight, makes us float on top of the water.
I know letting go can be hard, letting go of grudges, friendships where you are the only one putting effort, relationships that lost its spark, but when we loose things, we take a one step towards gaining something even more valuable.
In my personal experience, all those past experiences of toxic friendships, did lead me to loose hope, but it eventually led to me find the most amazing friends in the entire world who know exactly who they are. So, my point being letting go is sometimes the most bravest thing you can do for yourself and even for others.
I’ve learned to let things go, let people go without always seeking closure or explanation, for my own personal sanity and peace. So, in conclusion I leave you with this, breathe in, breathe deep, and breathe out and relax, let go of the things that no longer fit you, the past versions of yourself that no longer fit the new you, grudges on an ex friend or partner etc. In my humble opinion that’s the most bravest thing anyone can do.
