Taking your time- a coffee table discussion

By

Recently I had this conversation that is going to span this blog post about comparisons and doing things on your own pace, and it got me thinking inwards. I have always been the kind of person who looks over their shoulder and gets jealous if someone is doing better than them, in fact this dictated the entirety of my school life, comparing marks every time the papers were shown in class and constantly going down the rabbit hole of self-doubt and criticism.

Which was not a great way to live and be, to the point where you loose yourself entirely in the process. However, I have had this shift in perspectives as I have entered the golden gates of college (golden gates because everyone glamorized the idea of college NEWSFLASH! it’s not pretty).

More recently, I have started to let things be, let people be who they want to, and just kind of started thinking from other people’s perspectives about what they must be going through, and I’ve learned a lot, and still have a lot more to learn.

Life becomes easier when you decide to run in a solo race with yourself, still look over the shoulder but in admiration not comparison. Every single one of us has a path of our own, for some success is quick and swift, and for other it might take longer, but IT WILL HAPPEN. You just have to trust the process and keep working, and sometimes the process is more beautiful than the destination itself.
