In the process

By

I was recently reminded of this quote by my mother, she said “If you can’t avoid it, enjoy it” now that lead me to think how much of the time, we whine about the process of something, whether it’s growing your company, taking a lecture in college, reading a book etc. and we often think that “when will it be over?” and we think that when it does get over we’ll be so happy and content, and so satisfied, which is not always the case.

I remember thinking this “when will it be over?” question again and again in my 12th standard, we use to talk about “when will we have our farewell?” or “I can’t wait for the farewell!”. Cut to the actual day of the farewell arrived and we all were filled with tears and hit with an overboard of emotions and most of us didn’t want to leave. Now this encapsulates the topic of this blog perfectly, many of the time we whine about the process, and when it’s over we regret the decisions made along the way like how I heard people say on the farewell, “I should’ve enjoyed 12th more yaar!”

Some of the times we get so engrossed in the end result that we forget to enjoy the journey to the destination and I’ve been trying to enjoy the process these days (keyword being trying).

So in my humble opinion, sometimes it’s better to be in the process and to enjoy the ride rather than focusing so much on the goal or the mountain peak, because all you ever remember when you get to the mountain top, is the journey, so if you enjoy it to the fullest, you’ll have fun and as a bonus you’ll have a hell of a story to tell.
